The end of the week is almost here and I am so thankful that God brought me through it with little to worry about. My classroom has only 18 kids and I have a ton of resources to work with. Almost all of the teachers that were here last year have left and the new have all arrived. It has been fun meeting my new colleagues....some from Alabama, South Africa, Jamaica, Canada, Oklahoma, Colorado and of coarse there is me...sunny California girl. I represent the speed & need to hit the beach. Tomorrow we meet the parents and then hit a new beach before the chaos begins...the administation has filled our plates with duties and assignments that will take most of the next couple of weeks to complete, so no beach for awhile after tomorrow. So the pics today are of the "Get to know Caymanian culture day", some history with a little food. This island has an incredible history beginning with Columbus in 1503, I think, but what cracks me up is that I found out that the island name means "alligator", not lizard or turtle. I guess the alligators were at one time here....but now there is only one, and he swam the current from Cuba. He apparently is in the North Bay(?) right now, chilling in an exhibit. Pictures of him maybe next time.
